reading, read

"...(her) commonness is not so extraordinary. But I expected better of someone who had married me."
-Roger the lawyer, in V.S. Naipaul's Magic Seeds.

And I just finished The Motel Life, by Willy Vlautin. The guy's a Portland writer, and it reads like a zine. It reminds me of Aaron Eliot, or Al Burian, or J.T. LeRoy. Gritty and fucked up and American, but I liked it.

  1. I haven't read any of those authors. The last sentence you wrote made me want to read the book. :-)

  2. Is there time in your schedule for reading books? If so, I'll give it to you next time I see you. It's a quick read.

  4. No I haven't yet! What with the exhibition ending in May, you know how it is, there was tea and a soft blanket on the sofa, one thing led to another...
